Deputy Minister visits needy retired officers

PSNews - Deputy Public Security Minister Nguyen Van Thanh visited, encouraged and offered gifts to Mr. Le Tung Lieu and Mr. Le Kim Long in Lam Dong province.

As part of his working visit to Lam Dong province, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party's Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security visited and offered gifts to Mr. Le Tung Lieu and Mr. Le Kim Long. 

Mr. Lieu and Mr. Long who are former officers of the Lam Dong Provincial Police currently live in an especially difficult situation in Da Lat city.

Mr. Le Tung Lieu is 90 years old. He was jailed twice by the Saigon regime during the Vietnamese war against the US. Before working as an officer of the Internal Security Division under the Lam Dong Provincial Police, he engaged in some clandestine operations in the Central Highlands and in security zone 6. He now lives alone in a substandard house rented from the Lam Dong  Lawyers’ Association in Hung Vuong street, Da Lat city. However, the house is being reclaimed. 

Mr. Le Kim Long is a former officer of the Personnel and Organization Division under the Lam Dong Provincial Police. He has been retired since 2002. Currently, his family lives in a very difficult situation. He has been suffering from a serious chronic disease for years. 

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh visited, inquired after and encouraged them; shared his empathy with their difficulties; and handed gifts of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security to Mr. Lieu and Mr. Long.
