Dien Bien Provincial Police urged to enhance force building work

PSNews - The Provincial Police Department of Dien Bien held a conference on January 14 to review its performance of tasks in 2018 and roll out its working plans for 2019.

The conference saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Tran Van Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Mua A Son, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and representatives from relevant agencies and the provincial police.

According to reports at the conference, the provincial police force has obtained various achievements in maintaining local security and order over the past year. Particularly, Dien Bien’s police force successfully stopped reactionary elements from spreading plots and attempts to form a “State of the Mong people” and make use of the freedom of religion to sabotage the local authority, security and order.

The provincial police also investigated 530 drug-related cases, arrested 600 persons involved, seized 279.6 kg of heroin, 58.26 kg of synthetic drugs. Additionally, the police force of Dien Bien also successfully investigated 252 organizations and persons involved in 230 economic and environmental cases.

The local police force also improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the state management of social order and safety; reduced traffic accidents in all 3 criteria (number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries) compared with the previous year.

Meanwhile, the movement of “All people protecting national security” was promoted.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh recognized and appreciated the achievements gained by the Provincial Police of Dien Bien in 2018. He urged the provincial police to thoroughly grasp and follow the working motto: “Active, Exemplary, Disciplined, Responsible and Effective” of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in 2019 with 8 major tasks and 3 solutions.

As authorized by the State President, the Prime Minister and the MPS, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh and Mr. Tran Van Son presented various officers and teams under the provincial police noble awards, including a Fatherland Protection Order, Certificates of Merit by the Government and Emulation Flags of the MPS.
