Given the fact that drug criminals are increasing the use and application of technological advances in their activities, in 2017, the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes and the Institute of Engineering, Chemistry, Biology and Professional Documents (forerunner of the Institute of Science and Technology) signed a coordination regulation on research, production and application of professional technical means and support tools in the fight against drug-related crimes.

After 3 years of implementing the coordination regulations, the two sides have exchanged and provided information and documents to improve technical equipment used by the anti-drug police force as well as the efficiency of the prevention and fight of drug-related crimes. As the MPS’s organization has changed, the two agencies have decided to amend their coordination regulations.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Lt. Gen. Pham Van Cac, Director of the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes emphasized that in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the criminals widely exploit the cyber resources and space to commit offenses. Therefore, the anti-drug police force should keep up with the development of industry 4.0 and be equipped with hi-tech means and tools to successfully prevent and fight drug crimes.

Lt. Gen. Pham Van Cac highly spoke of the equipment and tools produced by the Institute of Science and Technology, saying that they have contributed to the successes of investigation of special cases and as well as protecting the police officers.
