Environmental Police Force requested to renovate thinking, perception and actions in environmental crime prevention and control

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long attended a meeting held by the Environmental Police Department to review the force’s work of environmental crime prevention and control in 2024 and roll out its 2025 work plan, on the afternoon of December 30th, in Hanoi.

Director of the Environmental Police Department Lieutenant General Tran Minh Le chaired the meeting. In 2024, under the sound leadership of the Government, the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS leaders, the Environmental Police Department effectively implemented its 2024 work plan.

During the year, the force took synchronous professional measures to prevent and combat environmental crimes as well as violations related to natural resource management and food safety. Thanks to the force’s effort, the environmental protection work and food safety situation saw significant positive changes.

Notably, the Environmental Police Department actively advised competent authorities to build a firm legal basis for the environmental police force to perform their duties, while regularly providing police units and agencies in localities with professional guidance on preventing and combating environmental crime, natural resource management violations and food safety violations.

Addressing the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS leaders, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long hailed the accomplishment of tasks achieved by the Environmental Police Force, affirming that the work results have made a significant contribution to the overall achievements of the Public Security Forces over the past year.

Regarding the force’s key tasks in the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long requested the Environmental Police Force to renovate their thinking, perception and actions in preventing and combating environmental crime in the new situation.

The Deputy Minister asked the Environmental Police Force to recognize potential risks to the environment and food safety so as to advise the Public Security Central Party Committee and MPS leaders to promptly stop and address them.

At the same time, the force should enhance the effectiveness of investigating and handling environmental criminal cases, based on the principle of handling one case to give warning to an entire region or sector.
