According to reports from the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department, 37 major fires have occurred in 2018 in localities of Vietnam, particularly in industrial parks, killing 18 people and injuring 60 others, causing a total loss of 1.4 trillion VND.

Therefore, the fire police must apply maximum fire safety measures and solutions to projects from the initial stage of construction while seriously monitoring the observation of technical standards and regulations on fire prevention and fighting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training course on December 13, Major General Doan Viet Manh, Director of the Fire Police Department, emphasized that this annual activity is part of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in building standards for fire prevention and fighting, personnel training and technology transfer between the Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting and UL Corporation.

It is also a good chance for fire police officers to discuss, exchange professional experience and learn how to apply other countries’ standards to the appraisal and approval of fire prevention and fighting plans in Vietnam. It also contributes to improving fire officers’ abilities.

The training course, which is held in the Northern, Central and Southern regions of Vietnam one after another, is conducted by experienced experts from UL.
