Late night at the Communal Police Post of Binh Thuan, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen, Major Nguyen Thi Yen Hang and her fellow police officers were checking their gears for a night patrol.

Upon receiving reports from local residents on trade and use of illegal drugs, Hang asked her superior officer for an attack on the suspicious hotspot of drug-related crime in the locality.

Thanks to the efforts of the communal police, two grathering places of illegal drug traffickers and users in the locality were shortly eradicated.

Hang started working for the communal police of Binh Thuan in December 2019. Since then, she and her colleagues have arrested 3 suspects of illegal drug trafficking, investigated 3 gambling cases and resolved a number of security and order related cases in the commune.

Tran Van Toan, a resident of Binh Thuan commune, said before the deployment of the communal police, local people had always felt worried about drug-related crime. He and other local people highly appreciated the efforts of Major Hang who always tried her best to complete her duties whether it was daytime or nighttime or during holidays.

Major Ha Thi Thuy Linh, just like Hang, volunteered herself to work as a communal police officer in Nam Tien commune, Pho Yen town in February 2020. Since then, Linh, with her professional expertise and experience, has fulfilled her tasks and left a good impression on the local people. When she was first deployed to her new post, Linh faced lots of difficulties but she overcame all and started to quickly grasp the local situation by going to local households to get information about the local security situation and local subjects as well as mobilizing local people to join the “All people participate in national security protection” movement and anti-crime movement.

With their great effort, Linh and her colleagues have successfully maintained security and order, and controlled social evils and crimes in the commune.

Hang and Linh are among the 20 female police officers who volunteered themselves to work at communal police posts in Thai Nguyen province. The Provincial Police Department of Thai Nguyen has so far deployed over 700 police officers, including many female officers, to all 145 communes and townships. They take various positions but they all contribute positively to public order and security at the grassroots levels.

Particularly, the female police officers have been deployed to 19 communes of 7 districts and towns, who are taking care of 244 villages in terms of public order and security home to more than 150,000 people or 40,000 households. The female police officers have made great contributions to the joint success of the country’s communal police force in completing the national database on population and issuance of chip-based ID cards. They also have played an important part in the fight against COVID-19 in the pandemic-affected localities.

Lieutenant Phan Tu Quyet, officer at the communal police post of Lau Thuong, Vo Nhai district, said she faced various difficulties when she first worked at the communal police post of Binh Long, Vo Nhai district. But she said, she will not give up her job becase of any difficulties. She said, “I have just been deployed to Lau Thuong commune, and there are a lot of difficulties. But I’m not afraid. I will definitely accomplish all my tasks.”
