Fire Prevention and Fighting University opens new academic year

PSNews – The Fire Prevention and Fighting University organized a ceremony on November 2 to open its new academic year. Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered a speech at the event.

Reports at the ceremony read that, in the previous school year, the Party Committee and the Directorate of the Fire Prevention and Fighting University promoted ideological education and encouraged its teachers, employees and students to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.

Last year, the university enrolled in nearly 3,200 new students, continued training 7,000 students and opened various training courses on fire fighting and driving fire trucks for 238 students.

Particularly, the university has coordinated with the Department of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security to successfully organize the training course "Fire fighting in completely enclosed spaces" conducted by French experts, coordinated with the Police Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue to organize specialized training courses on fire prevention, fighting and rescue for officers and soldiers in the entire police force.

The university also coordinated with other units to organized the extracurricular program "Firefighter Summer Camp" to educate fire escape and fighting skills for hundreds of primary and high school students.

With its outstanding achievements in the previous school year, the Fire Prevention and Fighting University has been granted a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Public Security while two of the university’s units have been granted the Emulation Flags by the Ministry of Public Security for having outstanding achievements in the emulation movement “For National security” in the school year of 2018 – 2019.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son urged the university to scrutinize the enrollment of the 2019-2020 academic year and inspect its training and testing programs in order to properly assess the study results of its students, meeting the requirements of the People's Public Security Forces in the new situation. 

The Deputy Minister also asked the Fire Prevention and Fighting University to promote cooperation with other police units, research institutes and educational institutions, while actively applying scientific and technical advances to the training of fire prevention, fighting and rescue as well as building its corps of teachers and educational administrators with good political stqance and professional qualifications.
