Fostering Vietnam–DPRK friendship in a substantive manner

Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, paid an official visit to the DPRK from June 13–16, 2026, at the invitation of Minister of Social Security of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Pang Tu Sop.

During the visit, Minister Luong Tam Quang and the Vietnamese delegation held talks with DPRK Minister of Social Security Pang Tu Sop and a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Social Security of the host country.

Warmly welcoming the Vietnamese delegation to the DPRK, Minister Pang Tu Sop emphasized that the friendship and cooperative relationship between the DPRK and Vietnam, nurtured by President Kim Il Sung and President Ho Chi Minh as well as by generations of senior leaders of the two countries, is being inherited and further developed under the leadership of the current top leaders of the two nations.

For his part, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm and thoughtful reception accorded to the Vietnamese delegation, and reaffirmed the enduring value of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK throughout the history of the two nations.

During the talks, the two Ministers agreed that the two ministries should concretize the high-level common perceptions reached between General Secretary and State President To Lam and General Secretary and President of State Affairs Kim Jong Un in the field of law enforcement cooperation, thereby contributing to bringing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK into a new stage of vigorous development for the prosperity of both nations.

The two sides agreed to enhance exchanges of delegations at all levels and organize cultural, artistic and sports exchange activities between the two ministries, in the coming period.

During their stay in Pyongyang, Minister Luong Tam Quang and members of the Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at Mansudae Hill, where the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are located, visited Kim Jong Il University of Social Security, and toured the Traffic Command and Information Center in Pyongyang.

Within the framework of the visit, Minister Luong Tam Quang also laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh located within the premises of the Embassy of Vietnam in the DPRK.

Meeting with diplomats and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the DPRK, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his hope that the diplomats and staff would continue to uphold their spirit of unity, responsibility, initiative and creativity so as to successfully fulfill their diplomatic duties, while serving as a useful bridge to further strengthen and deepen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK.
