At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated Mr. John W. McIntyre on his assumption of duty in Vietnam and expressed confidence that, with his experience and expertise, he would contribute to further strengthening and developing relations between Vietnam and the United States in a more substantive and effective manner, in line with the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The host emphasized that, after more than 30 years of normalization of relations, especially since  the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnam and the U.S. relations have seen significant developments in various fields, particularly in economy, trade, investment, science and technology and innovation.

He reaffirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization, being a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, which defines the United States as one of its leading strategic partners.

Minister Luong Tam Quang spoke highly of the positive outcomes of cooperation in the field of security and law enforcement between the Ministry of Public Security and U.S. law enforcement agencies, contributing to ensuring national security and maintaining social order and safety in each country. 

He also hailed the role of the U.S. Embassy in promoting cooperation by fostering delegation exchanges and information sharing.

For his part, Chargé d’Affaires John W. McIntyre expressed his honor to assume duty in Vietnam at a time when the bilateral relations are developing positively, and pledged to work closely with Vietnamese agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security, to further promote cooperation in a in-depth, practical and effective manner.
