G.D 5 attaches importance to technical and logistic preparation for APEC 2017

PSNews-The General Department of Logistics and Techniques (G.D 5) under the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to deploy forces to ensure logistics and techniques, security and order for the APEC Year of 2017.

Lieutenant General Le Van Minh, Director of the G.D 5 chaired the ceremony.

The ceremony was held as an effort to emphasize the importance of the agencies and units under the G.D 5 and promote close collaboration with other public security forces and involved local police to protect all activities and events of the APEC Year 2017.

The 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and its related activities, particularly the Summit Week, are organized in Da Nang city with the participation of Heads of State of the APEC member countries as well as some 10,000 representatives, enterprises and reporters.

In the buildup to the 2017 APEC Summit, 13 ministerial-level meetings and other 120 meetings and events will be held in various cities and provinces all over Vietnam. As a result, technical and logistic preparations are of great importance.

Addressing the ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Van Minh stressed that making logistic and technical preparations to meet security and safety requirements is an urgent and important mission, contributing to ensuring safety and success of the APEC Year 2017 and promoting Vietnam’s position in the international arena.

The director urged various units under the G.D 5 to proactively collaborate with other relevant units and local police departments to effectively protect safety for all activities of the APEC Year 2017, of which the Senior Officials’ Meeting 1 (SOM 1) will take place first.
