Gia Lai Provincial Police seriously implement Government’s Decree 100

The Provincial Police Department of Gia Lai has implemented various approaches to disseminate the Government’s Decree 100/2019/NĐ-CP on administrative penalties for road traffic offences and rail transport offences over the past time.

The Decree was issued on December 30, 2019 and took effect from January 1, 2020. After 2 months of implementing the degree, the Provincial Police of Gia Lai has achieved certain achievements, especially in changing awareness of ethnic minority people in remote areas.

Colonel Pham Huu Truong, Vice Director of the Gia Lai Provincial Police Department, highlighted that since the Decree took effect, the provincial police has stepped up their patrols and handling of violations during the Traditional New Year holiday. Functional forces handled all violations without any exception with the aim of ensuring local traffic order and safety.

According to statistics, from January 1 to February 14, 39 traffic accidents happened in the province, killing 21 and injuring 43. Nevertheless, the numbers of the accidents, deaths and injuries reduced 41%, 40% and 37% against the same time last year.

Since the advent of the Decree, the Traffic Police of Gia Lai has handled over 15,000 violations of traffic order and safety, fined some 8 billion Dong and seized nearly 3,000 vehicles, 8,400 vehicle registration documents and 757 driving licenses.

By contrast to the time before the Decree, the number of violations handled rose 40% while the fines nearly doubled. Particularly, some 800 violations related to drink-driving were handled.
