Ha Tinh has 147 km of the Vietnam-Laos border in the 3 districts of Huong Son, Huong Khe and Vu Quang. Since the beginning of 2019, drug trafficking activities across the shared border has been on the rise.

The situation has become more complicated despite close coordination among the local police, customs and border guard forces. Drug traffickers have become more tactful and venturesome, carrying a large amount of drugs.

So far, functional forces of Ha Tinh have cracked down on 63 drug cases, arresting 106 people involved in illegal drug trafficking, storing and using, seizing 185 packs and 18 grams of heroin and 388 kg of synthetic drugs.

Against this backdrop, the Provincial Police of Ha Tinh opened a new intensive campaign to enhance cooperation with other forces in exchanging information about drug crimes in the border areas, as well as in investing and arresting offenders and wanted criminals.
