The Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee organized a ceremony and a parade in response to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control themed “ The whole society join forces to build a drug-free community” on June 29th, in Hanoi.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event.

To successfully reach the target of  reducing drug supply, demand and negative impacts in line with directions of the Government and the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung suggested that ministries, branches and localities as well as the Hanoi’s 89 Steering Committee to drastically and effectively prevent and combat crimes in general, drug-related crimes in particular in compliance with guiding documents issued by the Party, the National Assembly, the Government and the  National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control.

The Deputy Minister also requested ministries, branches and localities to develop and replicate the model of drug-free communes, wards and towns, with an orientation toward the building of drug-free districts and provinces, while strictly managing drug addicts and drug illegal users so as to apply suitable drug detoxification methods to them.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung also requested that the counter-narcotics police force should promote its key role in drug prevention and control, while closely cooperating with the Border Guard, the Coast Guard and the Customs to proactively grasp the situation, detect and bust trans-border drug-trafficking lines, eradicate drug hotbeds, and implement synchronous measures to prevent the formation of complex drugs areas early, from afar.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung believed that under the sound leadership of the Party, the Government and with the participation of the authorities at all levels and people’s support, the drug evil will be ruled out from society.
