Hanoi to build 78 underground public parking lots in central city

PSNews – The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee recently approved a scheme on underground development of its 20 districts.

78 three-to-four-level underground public parking lots will be built with the total floor of 104 hectares in 4 inner-city districts.

According the scheme, the acreage for the underground department totals 756 square kilometers while all underground projects will have maximum depth of 30 meter from the surface.

The scheme includes a careful study on the development of the city until 2030 and a vision to 2050. The scheme will affect the 20 districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Tay Ho, Thanh Xuan, Hoang Mai, Ha Dong, Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem, Long Bien, Me Linh, Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Thanh Oai, Thanh Tri and Thuong Tin.

The scheme also defines two groups of underground projects that are allowed to be constructed underground Hanoi. The first consists of traffic system, technical infrastructure, electricity while the second comprises underground public works such as trade centers, supermarkets, entertainment centers, warehouses, and parking lots.

The scheme also shows, 78 three-to-four-level underground public parking lots will be built with the total floor of 104 hectares in 4 inner-city districts.

Earlier, in 2020, Hanoi suspended the planning of the underground parking space network in the 4 districts of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung and replaced it by other regional plans of the 4 inner-city districts.
