Hanoi’s top 10 cultural and sporting events in 2018

PSNews – The Hanoi Municipal Department of Culture and Sports on December 27 held a meeting with representatives of media agencies and newspapers to vote and announce top 10 cultural and sporting events of Hanoi in 2018.

The first of the Top 10 is the opening of pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem lake. This area has witnessed many domestic and international cultural and sporting events as well as activities of preserving and promoting the values of Vietnnamese intangible cultural heritages.

The second is the 10th anniversary of the merger of Thang Long culture and Doai culture. This is considered an endogenous resource and motivation for Hanoi's development in the process of industrialization, modernization and international integration.

The cultural sector also has five other typical events, namely: Positive results in implementing the two codes of conduct that have been advocated by the whole political system from the city levels to the grassroots; Hanoi's first culinary and culture festival in 2018;

the recognization of historical relics of Dong Da hillock, So Temple and TuongPhieu Temple as special national monuments; the renewal and diversification of conservation activities and promotion of values at the special national monument of Temple of Literature; and the national Van and Chau Van singing festival.

The sports sector of Hanoi has three typical activities including: successfully organizing and securing the first position of the whole delegation at the 8th National Sports Festival - Hanoi 2018;  becoming the 22nd place to host of the World Formula 1 Race; and the first Hanoian athlete winning the gold medal for track-and-field event at the Asian Games.
