His Tet greetings are translated into English as follows:

Dear colleagues, friends and readers,

2017 has been considered a busy but successful year of the Public Security Newspaper. During the year, we, the staff of the newspaper, closely followed and faithfully reflected all developments of the domestic and international situations, as well as covered major events at home and overseas, in the newspaper’s editions.

In the domestic sphere, the editions of the newspaper frequently covered every aspect of the domestic situation around the year, particularly issues related national security, social order and safety, socio-economic development, culture and sports, life and work of the Public Security Forces and people across the country.

What is more, the editions of the newspaper gave readers exact and up-to-date information about national- and sector- level events, particularly the APEC 2017's events with a focus on the 25th APEC High-level Week held in Da Nang city in November with the participation of all 21 leaders of the APEC economies; the 12th National Party Congress's meetings and resolutions; State-level events; national movements; and the 73nd National Public Security Conference as well as issues and events within the Public Security Forces.

Articles in the newspaper’s editions provided readers an overall picture of the country as well as the domestic situation of political security, social order and safety, and task performance of the Public Security Forces.

Regarding international issues and foreign affairs, reporters of the newspaper successfully followed and reported on major developments of the regional and international situations and updated readers on information about latest happenings in the region and world on time and in an objective manner.

Particularly, the newspaper, as the voice of the People’s Public Security Forces and people, always provided readers on foreign activities of leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and Public Security Forces, including visits of Vietnamese leaders to other countries as well as visits of leaders of other countries to Vietnam.

One of the significant events of the Public Security Newspaper in 2017 was the commencement of the Public Security Newspaper’s Online Chinese Edition. Under the permission of the leadership of the Ministry of the Public Security and to meet the need of domestic and international readers, the newspaper piloted of its Online Chinese Edition in November 2017. After 2 months of trial, the Online Chinese Edition was officially launched on January 26, 2018, during a meeting with the Newspaper's outstanding collaborators.

Meanwhile, the Online English Edition of the newspaper, which was officially launched on the 70th anniversary of the first issue of the Public Security Newspaper, on October 27, 2016, saw great development in current times. With its plentiful contents, the Online English Edition draws a growing number of readers.

Today, the Public Security Newspaper has a number of editions in Vietnamese and two online editions (English and Chinese). This has demonstrated an enormous development of the newspaper, and its great effort to satisfy an increasing demand of a rising number of domestic and international readers for information. This also means that the newspaper’s staff has had to undertake greater responsibility. 

Since the two foreign-language editions were commenced, the newspaper’s Board of Editors has received many encouragements, supports as well as constructive opinions and ideas from leaders of the Public Security Ministry, colleagues from other newspapers, friends and readers at home and overseas.

We, all staff of the newspaper, highly appreciate these supports and constructive opinions and ideas, which have contributed to perfecting our Online Chinese and English Editions as well as to better serving domestic and international readers. We are really grateful to you all for that.

In 2017, the Public Security Newspaper also held various online conferences to discuss various topics, drawing big attention from readers. These online discussions included issues of public concern, such as “Preventing fraud in BOT projects” and “Fire prevention and fighting”.

Besides the professional work, we participated actively in social activities. Over the past year, the newspaper has mobilized some VND 20.5 billion to support people facing extreme difficulties from all over the country.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese lunar New Year – Year of Dog, we, all staff of the Public Security Newspaper, would like to extend best wishes to our colleagues, friends and readers, and hope that you will continue to support and be interested in the Public Security Newspaper in general and its Online English Edition in particular.
