Helping prisoners re-integrate into community

Women’s Union of Vietnam in collaboration with Long An public security department and provincial Women’s Union to organize information dissemination and education on crimes and social evils themed “Chap canh tuong lai”.

The event was held in Hau Nghia high school (Duc Hoa district, Long An) on October 9th.

It was attended by participants from Vietnam Women’s Union, General Departments under the MPS, other relevant provincial agencies of Long An and examples of ex-prisoners and their families, students, members of relating unions.

During the event, participants had the chance to listen to the stories, feelings and hopes of people who did wrong in the past and try their best to fix their mistakes in present day and organizations and individuals making contributions to re-integration of prisoners.

Stage performances impressed participants, delivering messages “Helping people to rehabilitate and re-integrate to the community is helping ourselves.”

“Chap canh tuong lai” (can be generally understood as “Bright Future Await”) was organized with a view to honoring example of people succeeded in re-integrating into the community, representing the society’s hope to eliminate barriers, discrimination against ex-prisoners, helping them turn over a new leaf.

This event is expected to give students and young members of Youth Union lessons about life, practical experience to help them decide what is right and wrong.
