Overview of the meeting.

Welcoming the Ambassador to the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that since the two countries established diplomatic relations more than 50 years ago, especially since the upgrading of the bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, the Vietnam-India bilateral relationship has strongly and positively developed on the basis of common values and interests as well as mutual understanding and trust.

In the fields of security and law enforcement, the Vietnamese Public Security Minister revealed that, over the past time, the two sides regularly exchanged delegations at all levels and maintained the annual Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue mechanism between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Indian National Security Council’s Office.

To strengthen bilateral cooperation in security, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides should enhance information exchange on global and regional security situations, expand cooperation in preventing crime, addressing traditional and non-traditional security threats, and especially cooperation in the fields of information technology and cybersecurity which India has much potential for.

The two sides should further promote exchange of high-level and expert-level delegations to enhance the effectiveness of their cooperation in specific fields.

The host also underlined that the two sides should effectively implement cooperation mechanisms between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Security Council of India, while diversifying forms of cooperation in fighting terrorism, transnational crime, high-tech crime and economic crime.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Indian Ambassador Sandeep Arya underscored that, in the context of complicated developments in the region and the world, the Vietnam-India ties should be tightened to ensure legitimate political, economic and security interests of the two countries.

The Ambassador pledged that, in his working position, he will spare no effort to deepen the cooperative relationship between the two countries in general and between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Security Council of India in a practical and effective manner, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
