Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son pointed out that, over the past years, the police, procuracy, court and justice at all levels have well performed investigation, prosecution, adjudication and criminal verdict execution, contributing significantly to the implementation of the strategy on judicial reform and protection of national security and order.

However, at present, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son, the actual situation of detention as well as management and execution of criminal verdicts in general and execution of the death penalty in particular are facing difficulties, causing much pressure on the management of detention.

“The meeting with the participation of representatives and leaders of the ministries, branches, central agencies and detention centers should carefully review the situation and assess the results of management, detention and execution of the death penalty in the recent time, then identify shortcomings, difficulties, obstacles and inadequacies in the work so as to propose effective measures to implement the tasks in the coming time”, said the Deputy Minister of Public Security.

At the meeting, the delegates analyzed and clarified obstacles and inadequacies of the laws and weaknesses in coordination mechanisms of relevant agencies in the execution of the death penalty.

Delegates also acknowledged the difficulties that had faced the police force and involved agencies in charge of criminal verdict execution in the past time. They also suggested many measures to resolve all difficulties in order to maintain the strictness of the law.

In conclusion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security will further and thoroughly discuss difficulties and obstacles related to the management of detention and execution of the death penalty with other ministries, branches and central agencies.

He also called for close coordination between the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies so as to implement more effectively the work of criminal verdict execution.
