Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang received Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular, Parliament and Iranians Affairs Vahid Jalalzadeh on the morning of October 26, in Hanoi.

Welcoming Deputy Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh and the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran to Vietnam for the Signing Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (the Hanoi Convention), Minister Luong Tam Quang stated that Vietnam and Iran have maintained a long-standing traditional friendship and cooperation. He affirmed that Iran is an important partner of Vietnam in the Middle East region.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in combating transnational crimes, particularly cybercrime as well as in security industry development, technology transfer and the production of equipment and tools serving the tasks of protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety.

Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that the Hanoi Convention provides a new international cooperation framework based on the principles of respect for international law, equality in dialogue and sustainable, humane development, while opening up new opportunities and channels for internationally concerted effort to prevent and combat cybercrime.

The Minister reaffirmed that Vietnam stands ready to work closely with Iran and other international partners to translate the commitments made at the Hanoi Convention into concrete and effective actions in the future.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the warm reception, Iraniann Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahid Jalalzadeh congratulated Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security on successfully hosting the Hanoi Convention Signing Ceremony.

The guest affirmed that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Iran are developing in an increasingly comprehensive, substantive and effective manner, and making positive contributions to strengthening the ties between the two countries for the benefits of both peoples as well as for peace and cooperation in the world.
