Large online gambling ring busted in Da Nang and Gia Lai

The Municipal Police Department of Da Nang coordinated with the Department of Cyber ​​Security and Hi-tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on September 23 to bust an online gambling ring, led by Huynh Ngoc Anh, 48, resident of Nai Hien Dong ward, Son Tra district.

The police arrested 22 people and conducted search of 20 residences and seized various related exhibits.

This major gambling ring is said to involve numerous subjects in Da Nang and Gia Lai.

According to initial investigation results, Huynh Ngoc Anh led the ring’s activities in Da Nang.

He purchased super-agent accounts of gambling websites with overseas-based servers such as Bong88.com, Bong88.net, Booking 88.net, SmartBooking88.net to organize online betting on sports like soccer, basketball, tennis or lottery.

Anh also created sub-accounts with the help of his brother Huynh Ngoc Dinh, 39, resident of Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district. This online gambling ring involves many criminals engaged in gambling activities and black credit.

On September 23, some 100 police officers and soldiers of Da Nang were deployed to attack the gambling network.

A leader of the Department of Cyber ​​Security and Hi-tech Crime Prevention said, the total betting of the gambling ring reached VND 3,000 billion (nearly $130 million). This is also the largest gambling ring ever busted in Da Nang.
