The field hospital No. 4, based in Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district, HCM City, is designated to receive children under 6 infected with COVID-19.

Over the past month, the hospital has admitted nearly 600 cases. Some 400 children patients have so far been discharged from the hospital while the remainders have been given special care and treatment.

Dr. Nam said that children have less complications than adults. Special care, however, should be given to children with obesity or chronic diseases.

Children infected with COVID-19 may have unclear complications, but they can transmit virus to others, Nam said.

All child patients should be closely monitored before being discharged from the hospital. Parents are also given special guidance on taking care of their children.
