Leaders of MPS receive international guests

PSNews-On June 21, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security receives Mr. Ted Osius, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America, and Ms. Meirav Elon Shahar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Vietnam.

Minister Lam expressed his pleasure at sound developments in bilateral relations and cooperation between the U.S. and Vietnam in recent years in the fields of politics, economics, culture, society and security and defense, contributing positively to stable and sustainable development of each country in particular and the region in general. Minister Lam also spoke highly of the important contribution of Ambassador Osius to the bilateral relations.

In addition, cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the relevant US agencies has made positive progress and achieved many important results.

Minister To Lam emphasized that the two sides should enhance cooperation and exchange of information on the East Sea (South China Sea) to ensure security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the sea. Minister To Lam also hoped to accelerate implementation of the agreement on the return of Vietnamese citizens signed in 2008.

The Vietnamese Minister wished that Ambassador Ted Osius would continue to contribute actively to strengthening and developing cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, as well as effective cooperation between the relevant agencies of Vietnam and the U.S. for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region ...

Ambassador Ted Osius congratulated on the success of the visit by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the U.S. and the results achieved during a meeting between Minister Lam and US Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly.

Ambassador Osius expressed his sincere wish that the Vietnam- U.S. relationship will grow and achieve many good results in all areas. He also expressed his belief that, in the coming time, cooperation between US agencies and the MPS of Vietnam will continuously be strengthened, contributing to expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at a meeting with the Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, on behalf of the MPS, Minister Lam congratulated Ms. Meirav Elon Shahar on her successful term of office in Vietnam, making an important contribution to fruitful results of the cooperation between the two countries in general and the MPS of Vietnam and relevant Israeli governmental agencies in particular.

Minister Lam pointed out that, in the recent past, the world and the region have witnessed an increasingly complicated situation while terrorist activities occur around the world without distinction of territory or nation, and  especially operations of the so-called Islamic State (IS) are spreading inside and outside the region in and outside the region. This context requires countries, including Vietnam and Israel, to strengthen cooperation to fight crime.

Minister To Lam expressed his pleasure, saying that, during her office term in Vietnam, Ambassador Meirav Elon Shahar had served as a bridge, actively supported the relationship between the two countries in the fields of security and internal affairs. The two sides have actively cooperated in building, negotiating and signing cooperation documents on information protection, transnational crime prevention and control, and cooperation on security industry. The two sides continue surveys and negotiations to sign agreements on cyber security cooperation.

Minister Lam hoped that, after her office term in Vietnam, with her knowledge and affection for the country and the Vietnamese people, Ambassador Meirav Elon Shahar will continue supporting Vietnam, propose the Israeli leadership to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, and between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant Israeli agencies in particular, making important contribution to safety and prosperity of each country, as well as peace and stability in the regions and the world.

The Israeli Ambassador sincerely thanked the MPS and Minister Lam for the good sentiment and effective support for her during her office term in Vietnam. Ambassador Meirav Elon Shahar wished that the relationship between Vietnam and Israel would see more fine developments in all areas of cooperation. She also affirmed that she will continue doing her best to make bilateral cooperation between the two countries grow more comprehensively.

In the afternoon of June 21, Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security, met with Mr. Vasilii Dvoretskii, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Prostor Company, the Russian Federation.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh said that Vietnam is currently facing a complicated situation of fire incidents, especially in apartment buildings, industrial parks, workshops, markets and commercial centers, causing serious damages to both property and people. Therefore, the Party, State and Government of Vietnam pay special attention to fire prevention, fighting and rescue.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh hoped that the MPS of Vietnam and Prostor Company would effectively cooperate and carry out projects to provide fire fighting and rescue equipment for the fire fighting and rescue force of Vietnam. He hoped that the company will support technical training, construction and renovation of fire facilities in Vietnam.

Mr. Vasilii Dvoretskii sincerely thanked Vice Minister Bui Van Thanh for his reception and expressed his hope that the MPS of Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for Russian businesses to invest in Vietnam effectively, and to boost cooperation with the functional units of the MPS of Vietnam in the areas of mutual benefits.
