Leaders of Vietnam’s MPS and Russia’s SCRF have phone call

PSNews - Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS) made a phone call to Mr. Alexander Nikolayevich, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation (SCRF) on April 6.

The phone call was joined by Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Cuong.

At the event, on behalf of the MPS, Deputy Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang thanked Russia for supporting Vietnam with 2,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine, saying that the vaccine has contributed to the country’s disease control as well as socio-economic development in the period of 2021 - 2025. 

He also highly appreciated the Russian side’s cooperation with the Vietnamese side in COVID-19 vaccine research and production.

Particularly, the deputy minister expressed his sincere thanks to leaders of Russia and the SCRF for providing free vaccines to Vietnamese citizens in Russia, underlining that the move has helped them have good health and psychological stability to work and study normally in the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Truong Quoc Cuong congratulated Russia on its successful registration and use of the vaccine of Sputnik Light, the first COVID-19 vaccine for animals.

He stated that the Vietnamese MoH appreciated the effectiveness and safety of the Sputnik V. Vaccine, highlighting that it can produce high immunity to virus variants, including the strains detected in the UK and South Africa. On March 3, the Vietnamese MOH approved the use of Sputnik V vaccine in Vietnam.

Mr. Truong Quoc Cuong hopes that Russia will provide a large amount of Sputnik V vaccines for Vietnam to conduct large scale vaccination of Sputnik V in the country, and that Russia will transfer the production technology of the Sputnik V vaccine to Vietnam.

For his part, Mr. Alexander Nikolayevich affirmed that he would continue bolstering the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the COVID-19 vaccine production.
