During the talks, the two ministers highlighted positive developments in bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, security, defence, education and training as well as people-to-people exchange in the framework of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the UK over the past 15 years.

In the field of law enforcement cooperation, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the UK Home Office have closely collaborated on matters of migration management, immigration control and the investigation of human trafficking and illegal migration cases involving citizens of each country.

The two ministries have also effectively implemented various cooperation agreements on migration and anti-human trafficking, successfully organized Deputy Ministerial-level Migration and Immigration Dialogues as well as local forums on combating human trafficking, and jointly held capacity-building workshops for officers of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam on collecting and handling electronic evidence for investigation of human trafficking cases.

Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the joint declaration on upgrading Vietnam–UK bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership demonstrates the two countries’ strong commitment to promoting cooperation and advancing their relations to a deeper and more comprehensive level aligned with their mutual interests and strengths.

On that basis, the two sides agreed to effectively implement existing cooperation documents through concrete actions, enhance delegation exchanges at all levels to share information and hands-on experience in combating human trafficking and illegal migration, and thoroughly prepare for the fourth Migration and Immigration Dialogue.

The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in combating financial crime, money laundering, document forgery, UN peacekeeping and aviation security.

On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang and Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood signed two important cooperation documents, including the Plan to Enhance Cooperation on Migration Issues and the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in Combating International Fraud. The signing demonstrates Vietnam’s strong commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with the UK in addressing illegal migration as well as its readiness to respond to domestic and international fraud activities.
