Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of France to Vietnam Olivier Brochet, on the afternoon of October 18th, in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his delight at the upgrading of Vietnam – France bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the recent visit of Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam to the Republic of France.

The Vietnamese Minister underlined that security and defense cooperation always plays a key role in the Vietnam-France relationship, contributing to strengthening political trust between the two countries and jointly addressing challenges, for peace, stability and national security of each country.

He highlighted that the two sides had achieved numerous positive results of cooperation in preventing and combating crime, controlling illegal exit and entry, as well as building capacity of Vietnamese police officers.

To further promote the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS) and the French law enforcement agencies, especially the Ministry of the Interior and Overseas of France, Minister Luong Tam Quang hoped that the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime, addressing non-traditional security threats such as diseases, climate change and food security, fighting money laundering while expanding cooperation in the fields of cyber security, aviation security and personal data protection.

The host also suggested that the French partners continue to organize training and capacity-building courses for the Vietnamese fire and rescue police force and peacekeeping police force, while creating favorable conditions for one country’s citizens living, working or studying legally in the other country, contributing to socio-economic development in each country.

Minister Luong Tam Quang strongly believed that Ambassador Olivier Brochet, with his experience and capabilities, will effectively promote the Vietnam – France bilateral relations to a higher level.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Ambassador Olivier Brochet expressed his delighted at positive and comprehensive developments in the Vietnam – France relations in general and the cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and the French law enforcement agencies in particular.

The French Ambassador pledged that, in his position, he will spare no effort to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, as well as strongly promote cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and the French law enforcement agencies in a more practical and effective manner, for the national security and prosperity of the two countries and the benefits of the people of the two countries.
