Speaking at the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that, since the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Transnational Crime in 2018, the cooperation between law enforcement forces of the two countries has been continuously strengthened, and achieved numerous positive results.

Accordingly, the two sides regularly exchanged delegations at all levels to exchange crime information and hands-on experience in crime prevention and control, as well as jointly investigated transnational criminal cases related to citizens of the two countries.

The two sides also consulted and supported each other at multilateral forums in the region and the world, while not allowing any organizations or individuals to utilize one country’s territory to carry out sabotage activities against the other country.

To upgrade the Vietnam-Singapore bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership as soon as possible as agreed by top leaders of the two countries, the Vietnamese Minister pointed out two key factors, namely building political trust and promoting high-level security cooperation between the two sides.

To achieve that goal, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides continue to bring into play the achievements in the Vietnam-Singapore bilateral relations, strengthen political trust through exchanges via all channels, and support each other at ASEAN's forums as well as other multilateral forums.

In addition, the host stressed the need to make security cooperation a core pillar in the Vietnam-Singapore bilateral relations, so that the two countries can jointly respond to common challenges, contributing to safeguarding national security of each country and building a peaceful, stable, cooperative and prosperous ASEAN region.
