Present at the meeting were Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, and former Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Huong, who had previously served as Secretary of the Head of K79 delegation.

More than 46 years ago, with the support of Vietnamese volunteer troops, the Cambodian revolutionary forces overthrew the Khmer Rouge regime, liberating the country from the genocidal regime. That victory was a milestone in the relationship between the two nations, demonstrating loyal and pure international solidarity, and especially the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

During those historic years, nearly 4,000 Vietnamese public security officers and enlistees were sent to Cambodia to help Cambodia stabilize the situation in the country, combat hostile forces, build the Cambodian police forces and contribute to the country’s recovery and development.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS leadership, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed profound gratitude and warm regards to all former public security experts who had served in Cambodia.

The Minister emphasized that their contributions have embodied courage and pride and enriched the glorious traditions of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces while setting shining examples for the next generation to follow.

He affirmed that the Public Security Central Party Committee, the MPS leadership and the entire Public Security Forces always treasure and remember the great sacrifice and devotion of the former experts.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his delight at seeing that aged former experts still have much enthusiasm and actively participate in social and community activities, contributing to ensuring security and order and promoting socio-economic development at the local level.

He called on the former experts to continue to uphold the spirit of “The more ages, the more will”, preserve political qualities and revolutionary ethics, and share their valuable experiences and thoughtful opinions to help build more regular, elite and modern Public Security Forces.

The Minister also encouraged them to actively join the “All People Protecting National Security” movement, contribute to consolidating the “people’s security posture” and the “people’s hearts posture” at the grassroots level, while further nurturing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
