“The dialogue mechanism between the two sides is very important as it provides opportunity for the two sides to discuss issues of mutual concern, clarify each other's viewpoints on newly emerging issues and seek measures to strengthen the bilateral cooperation, including the fields of ensuring national security and maintaining public order and safety in each country, and bring the UK-Vietnam Strategic Partnership to a new level,” Minister Luong Tam Quang spoke at the meeting.

The host suggested that the two sides review the achieved results of their cooperation, and actively implement the signed agreements to better meet each other's wishes and needs.

To expand cooperation between the two ministries, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested realizing the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Human Trafficking, the Memorandum of Understanding on Sharing Immigration Information, the Memorandum of Understanding on Migration Issues, and the Joint Communiqué at the 3rd Vietnam - UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue.

He also underscored the need to enhance exchange of delegations at all levels, especially at the expert level, to share work experiences and professional information on preventing and combating human trafficking and illegal migration, coordinate in investigating networks that forge political asylum applications and profiles on victims of human trafficking for illegal profits.

The host wishes to expand cooperation with the UK Home Office on the fields of its strengths, such as preventing and combating high-tech crimes, financial crimes, money laundering, passport and document counterfeiting.

Minister Luong Tam Quang also took the chance to propose the UK Home Office to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese nationals to reside, work and study legally in the UK, considering it a good way to prevent illegal migration.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Mr. Simon Ridley highly appreciated the increasing cooperation between the two ministries in recent times, especially the effective coordination within the framework of the 3rd Vietnam - UK Migration and Immigration Dialogue, which took place on the morning of March 4 in Hanoi.
