At the talks, both sides noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971, the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Norway has developed positively across various fields.

Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides enhance delegation exchanges at all levels and expand cooperation in the areas where Norway has strengths and Vietnam needs. These include seaport infrastructure, renewable energy, digital transformation, science and technology, innovation, agriculture and fisheries.

He also proposed that the two sides should further strengthen coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations, especially the United Nations.

Regarding law enforcement cooperation, the two ministers agreed to boost delegation exchanges to share information and experience in crime prevention and control, while stepping up coordination in investigating transnational criminal cases and arresting internationally wanted fugitives.

They also consented to expand cooperation in building police officers’ capacity for crime prevention, search and rescue operations as well as to organize training courses for Vietnamese police peacekeepers at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs.

Following his meeting with Minister Astri Aas-Hansen, Minister Luong Tam Quang had a working session with Deputy Commissioner of the Norwegian National Police Lars Erik Alfheim to discuss approaches to promote cooperation between the two police forces.

On the same day, the MPS delegation visited the Norwegian Police University College.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in capacity building of training institutions under the two ministries, especially developing joint training models for UN peacekeeping forces of the two countries.

They also agreed to enhance exchanges of lecturers and students to share practical experience in law enforcement.

They finally agreed to consider negotiating and signing a cooperation agreement between the Norwegian Police University College and educational institutions under the Vietnam’s MPS.
