Minister of Public Security sends letters to brave “street knights”

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security on May 14 sent letters of condolences and gratitude to families of the "street knights", who were killed or injured in a recent incident.

The letter reads:

“The leaders of the Ministry of Public Security were informed of an incident taking place at 9:20 pm, May 13th when 5 “street knights” of Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh city detected and bravely stopped a group of robbers from stealing a motorbike in front of No.348C, Cach mang Thang Tam Str., Ward 10, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). During the fight, the robbers with scimitars and knives assaulted the “street knights”, killing 3 people, including 2 “street knights”, and injuring 2 others.

The action of the “street knights” have demonstrated their courage, knightliness and readiness to fight to death any criminals for people’s  legitimate rights and interests of the people. They deserve to be praised as outstanding examples in the movement of “All people protecting national security,” who work along with the People's Police forces to contribute to ensuring political security, social order and safety in the locality.

On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam also expressed his deep condolences and gratitude to the families of the dead and injured “street knights”.”

The Department of “All people protecting national security” Movement shall coordinate with the General Department of Politics and the Municipal Police of HCMC to visit, encourage and support the families of the deceased and injured men, and work with local authorities and families to organize solemn funerals for the dead “street knights”. 

At the same time, relevant agencies under the MPS should join efforts with the health sector to take good care of the injured ones. The General Department of Police has been asked to work with the Municipal Police of HCMC to hunt for the suspects and soon bring them to justice in order to deter and prevent crimes, ensure political security and preserve social order and safety, for the security of the country, for the peaceful life and happiness of the people. 

Regarding the new development of the case, the Municipal Police of HCMC had succeeded in capturing 2 suspects, called Phu and Tai.

The case is still under further investigation.
