In order to ensure the effective implementation of the National Database on Population Project, the Ministry of Public Security established the Project Steering Committee and organized an online conference with public security units and agencies nationwide to launch the project on March 13.

Furthermore, Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, inspected the implementation of the project and chaired professional consultations at 34 local police units. At the inspections and consultations, the deputy minister promptly pointed out the limitations of the police units in implementing the project as well as gave recommendations to them.

Over the past months, public security units and agencies in coordination with local authorities published more than 260 news articles, 1,790 radio broadcasts and distributed more than 410,000 leaflets on information related to the project to residents of localities across the country.

They also organized thousands of meetings with the participation of more than one million citizens and offered them more than 100,000 documents on  the project, helping people understand more about the project.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam recognized and praised the efforts of the Steering Committee and all public security agencies and units in building the National Database on Population.

Regarding the key missions in the coming time, the Minister asked the Steering Committee to effectively direct the implementation of the project so as to complete it as scheduled. It should also increase inspection over the implementation of the projects at all public security agencies and units to ensure accurate population information regularly updated on the national database. The police units at the provincial, district and communal levels should heighten their sense of responsibility for implementing the project.

Additionally, the relevant units should pay due attention to drafting documents guiding the implementation of the amended Law on Residence and other documents related to the development and operation of the National Database on Population as well as regulations on citizens’ identity cards, contributing to completing a legal framework for the National Database on Population when it is put into operation.
