Minister To Lam co-chairs 8th Conference on Crime Prevention and Control in China

During his official visit to China from September 12 to 16, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam General To Lam paid a courtesy call on Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Director of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi, on the afternoon of September 13, in Beijing.

During the visit, Minister To Lam and Member of the State Council and Minister of Public Security of China Wang Xiaohong co-chaired the 8th Ministerial Conference on Crime Prevention and Control between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China.

During the courtesy call, Mr. Cai Qi welcomed Minister To Lam to China, and spoke highly of the development of cooperative ties between the two Parties and countries in all fields within the framework of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership, under the 16-word motto of "friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-lasting stability and looking towards to the future” and the “four-good” spirit of good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, good partners.

Overview of the 8th conference.

At the 8th Ministerial Conference on Crime Prevention and Control, the two sides shared the same view on the results of the bilateral cooperation, saying that, over the past two years, the two countries' Ministries of Public Security have actively implemented common perceptions and contents agreed between the two sides in the records of the 7th meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Particularly, the two sides actively and effectively coordinated in preventing and fighting all types of crimes, contributing to ensuring political security, order and social safety in each country, and maintaining order and security along the shared borderline.

The close and effective coordination between the two sides contributed to strengthening the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic partnership.

Since the 7th meeting, functional forces of the two sides have jointly launched campaigns to fight illicit drug trafficking and trafficking in humans, and control illegal immigration activities while teaming up in eliminating transnational crime gangs.

Regarding orientations for the bilateral cooperation in the coming time, the two ministers agreed that the two countries' Ministries of Public Security continue to coordinate effectively to ensure security and safety of important political events to be held in each country, safely protect citizens of one country in the other, drastically fight transnational crimes, cyber fraud, arrest runaway criminals, and conduct joint patrols along the borderline to control border immigration.

At the end of the conference, Minister To Lam and Chinese Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong signed the Minutes of the 8th Conference on Crime Prevention and Control Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China and Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening cooperation in preventing and combating transnational gambling between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China.

On this occasion, Chinese Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong also awarded Minister To Lam the Golden Great Wall Medal.
