Minister To Lam had a meeting with Australian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski, who had just begun his new office term in Vietnam, on the afternoon of December 14, 2022, in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister To Lam welcomed the Ambassador to Vietnam and wished the Ambassador a successful term, contributing to furthering the good relationship between the two countries in general and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and relevant Australian agencies in particular. 

Minister To Lam revealed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Australian law enforcement agencies had cooperated closely in many areas of security, crime prevention and control in recent years. 

The two sides are implementing the signed cooperation deals and the Minutes of the second Deputy Ministerial Security Dialogue in Hanoi in December 2019 while the Ministry of Public Security and the Australian Department of Home Affairs are preparing to hold the third Security Dialogue scheduled for the first quarter of 2023 in Australia.

In order to promote cooperation in the coming time, Minister To Lam suggested the two sides continue implementing the agreed agreements, closely coordinate in handling regional security issues and support each other at multilateral forums.

The host also proposed to soon establish a ministerial dialogue and consultation on security mechanism between Vietnam and Australia to expand the bilateral cooperation in exchanging security information, working experience, training, cybersecurity, and transnational crime, contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski sincerely thanked Minister To Lam for the meeting, and affirmed that he in his capacity will do his best to contribute to boosting the relationship between the two countries in general, and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the law enforcement agencies of Australia in particular, especially in preventing and controlling crime.
