Minister To Lam meets heads of Vietnamese overseas missions

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) hosted a meeting with newly-appointed heads of Vietnam’s overseas diplomatic missions in Hanoi on July 27.

General To Lam, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam said that the MPS always attaches importance to foreign affairs and international cooperation, while implementing the Party's policy of being proactive in international integration and maintaining a peaceful environment for national development.

Minister To Lam spoke highly of the big supports and effective coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam’s overseas diplomatic missions with the MPS. Over the past years, the Public Security Minister said, both sides have coordinated in advising the Party and State on foreign policies and settling various diplomatic issues, contributing to strengthening the country’s international integration and ensuring security and order at home as well as protecting Vietnamese citizens overseas.

Minister To Lam asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic missions to further coordinate with the MPS in all areas, particularly in advising the Party and State on foreign policies and foreign affairs.

He also hoped that the Foreign Ministry and diplomatic missions would serve as a bridge to strengthen the relations between the MPS with law enforcement agencies of other countries.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said that all diplomatic missions are determined to successfully fulfill their tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people, contributing to raising Vietnam’s position in the international arena.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam presented the “National Security Protection” medals to the heads of the Vietnamese overseas missions.
