Joaquim Veríssimo highly valued the visit by the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS), led by Minister To Lam, and expressed his delight at fine developments in the relations between the two Parties and States in the past time as well as the two sides’ cooperation in telecommunications, security and defense, agriculture and education and training. He hoped that the two sides would promote the ties in the time to come, especially on the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Mozambique (June 25, 1975 – 2020).

Minister To Lam thanked the host for the kind reception and emphasized Vietnam’s appreciation of Mozambique’s achievements in national development and construction.

At the talks, the two Ministers applauded the effective cooperation between judicial agencies of the two countries over the past time, through delegation exchange, sharing experience and cooperation in training as well as in the fight against crimes, especially transnational organized crimes and illegal wildlife trade.

Regarding the bilateral cooperation in the time to come, the two sides pledged not to allow any organizations or individuals to take advantage of the territory of one country to oppose the other. The two sides should further facilitate bilateral investment, trade, labor, tourism, and create favorable conditions for citizens of one country to live, study, travel and do business in the other country. The two countries’ authorities should also protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens and enterprises of one country in the other’s territory.

Under the authority of the State President of Vietnam and the President of Mozambique, Minister To Lam and Minister Jaquim Veríssimo signed the Agreement on Extradition and Agreement on Transfer of Imprisoned Persons, serving as a legal basis for the two sides to strengthen cooperation on justice and criminal issues.

The two ministers pledged to submit the deal to the competent authorities for approval.
