Minister To Lam ewarmly welcomed President Maeda Tadashi to Vietnam, saying that his visit is made at a special time when Vietnam and Japan are holding many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as well as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN-Japan partnership.
He believed, the visit will help bring the bilateral relationship to a new height, and open a period of profound development in relations between the two countries.
Highlighting the important role of JBIC in the bilateral cooperation, Minister To Lam suggested that the Japanese side should note the factors of sustainability, high quality and mutual support in relations and cooperation between the two economies.
The host also suggested supporting Vietnam in policy consultation, human resource development, as well as building capacity for innovation and creativity, promoting digital transformation (building digital government, digital economy, digital society), developing supporting industries, promoting public-private partnership model, investing in green energy projects (wind power, solar power, biomass power) and strategic infrastructure (highways, airports, roads, high-speed railways).
It was proposed that the Chairman, in the role of Special Advisor of the Government of Japan, will advise the Japanese Government to support the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam with equipment and training projects to build practical capacity of the Vietnamese law enforcement force, such as providing aid of coastal patrol boats, helicopters, modern equipment and weapons for the Vietnamese police force in support of its crime prevention and control, investing in aid projects on fire, rescue, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism.
Sincerely thanking Minister To Lam for the meeting, President Maeda Tadashi strongly believed that the Vietnam-Japan relationship will further develop, thanks to the high political determination and great support of the governments and peoples of the two countries.
The guest also expressed belief that the bilateral cooperation will reap more fruits, and contribute to shaping the Vietnam-Japan relationship in the next 50 years, and that the two sides will lay a firm foundation to upgrade the bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023.
