Minister of Public Security General To Lam received incoming Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Vietnam Hynek Kmonicek, on November 2, in Hanoi.

Welcoming Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek to Vietnam to take up his new assignment in Vietnam, Minister To Lam wished the ambassador a successful term of office in Vietnam and hoped that he would contribute to further strengthening the good traditional relationship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in general, and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and relevant agencies of the Czech Republic in particular.

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of the Czech Republic have closely cooperated in crime prevention and control, especially transnational crimes, high-tech crimes, illicit drugs trafficking, human trafficking, as well as in protecting citizens of the two countries.

In order to early complete the legal framework for bilateral relations and cooperation, Minister To Lam suggested that the ambassador advise Czech authorities to consider about an agreement on extradition between the two countries, and sign a new agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal and civil matters, replacing the agreement signed in 1984 between Vietnam and Czechoslovakia.

Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek thanked Minister To Lam for the warm welcome, saying that it was his honor to work as ambassador of the Czech Republic to Vietnam at this important moment, and highly valued the good traditional friendship between the Czech Republic and Vietnam over the past time.

He also expressed delight at good results of the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is increasingly developing, especially cooperation in the fight against crime. 

Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek affirmed that, in his capacity, he will do his best to boost relations and cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
