At the meeting, Minister To Lam stated that, over the past time, the relationship between the two countries has developed substantively and comprehensively in many aspects, stressing that the two sides have continuously strengthened economic connection, supported each other in developing human resources, science and technology, supply chain.
The host also highlighted the close and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Japanese partners in information sharing, crime prevention and fighting and capacity building.
He believed that the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and the Japanese Ambassador had contributed largely to the development of the bilateral relations and cooperation.
Minister To Lam considered that the substantive and comprehensive cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and relevant agencies of Japan can play an important role in fostering the deep relationship between the two countries in line with the viewpoints of leaders of the two Governments.
Minister To Lam said that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is striving to build the People's Public Security Forces as truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modernized forces by 2030.
To achieve that goal, the Ministry of Public Security has recently established the People's Public Security Air Force Regiment under the Mobile Police Command, to safeguard aviation security and expand the forces’ capacity in crime prevention, fire fighting and rescue.
At the same time, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is improving combat capacity of the waterway police force and the police units in coastal provinces to enforce the law in Vietnam’s waters.
The Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam wishes to establish bilateral cooperation with the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) in the fight against maritime crime, search and rescue, maritime traffic, protection of marine resources, personnel training, and exchange of experience.
Minister To Lam suggested that the Ambassador help connect between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Japanese coast guard and promote bilateral cooperation in building capacity of the Vietnamese police force.
Minister To Lam highlighted practical supports of the Japanese side for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in improving its capacity of fire and rescue via the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and hoped that the Ambassador will continue supporting cooperation projects in this field between the Ministry of Public Security and relevant Japanese agencies.
Sincerely thank Minister To Lam for the warm welcome, Ambassador Yamada Takio wished the cooperation relationship between Japan and Vietnam would develop positively in the future, for the benefits of each country and people as well as for peace and stability in the region and in the world. Ambassador Yamada Takio affirmed that he in his capacity as the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam will continue to spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two countries in general, and cooperation between the relevant Japanese agencies of Japan and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in particular.
