Minister To Lam receives outgoing Thai Ambassador

PSNews - General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam Tanee Sangrat as he paid a farewell visit to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on September 17.

At the reception, Minister To Lam congratulated the outgoing Thai Ambassador on his successful term of office in Vietnam.

The Minister also spoke highly of the Ambassador's positive contributions to strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand as well asthe cooperation between the VietnameseMinistry of Public Security and the law enforcement agencies of Thailand.

According to the public security minister, over the past time, the two sides regularly exchanged high-ranking delegations and experts while promoting the bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

Regarding the bilateral collaboration in crime prevention, the two sides exchanged information and coordinated effectively in arresting criminals of one country running away to the other. In terms of training cooperation, the Vietnamese People's Police Academy sent 8 university students and 1 master student to study at the Royal Thai Police Academy. 

The two sides also supportedeach other in various multilateral forums and organizations against transnational crimes, including SOMTC, AMMTC, ASEANAPOL, and INTERPOL.

The Vietnamese Minister expressed hope that Mr. Tanee Sangrat in his new position will continue to foster the effective cooperation and good friendship between the two countries as well as support the Vietnamese MPS to successfully organized the 14thASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime(AMMTC 14) at the end of this year. 

The Minister also wished that the Vietnamese MPS and Thai law enforcement agencies would further exchange information and experience in the fight against drug-related crimes as well as strengthen capacitybuildingfor each other’s police officers in the coming time,.

For his part, Ambassador TaneeSangrat thanked the Vietnamese MPS and Minister To Lam for supporting him during his term of office. He vowed to serve as a bridge connecting Vietnam and Thailand in the coming time, contributing to deepening the relationship between the two countries.
