Minister To Lam receives South African Ambassador

Minister of Public Security General To Lam received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Africa to Vietnam Vuyiswa Tulelo at the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Headquarters on the afternoon of September 29.

Speaking at the meeting on behalf of the MPS leadership, Minister To Lam welcomed Ambassador Vuyiswa Tulelo and wished the Ambassador a successful term of office in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the fine relationship between the two countries in general, between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant agencies of the South Africa in particular.

Minister To Lam highlighted the fine relations between Vietnam and the African National Congress (ANC) and the Communist Party of South Africa, and Vietnam had always supported the struggle of the South African people against the Apartheid.

He added that South Africa has now been the first and only African country which established “partnership for cooperation and development” with Vietnam.

Vietnam is an advocate of South Africa’s effort to promote relations with the ASEAN, Lam said, and hoped South Africa would support Vietnam in expanding its cooperation with the African Union and the Southern African Development Community.

The host also highlighted cooperation activities between the MPS of Vietnam and the South African partners over the past time given the COVID-19 pandemic, and hoped that the two sides would further foster their ties in a number of areas in the time to come.

Ambassador Vuyiswa Tulelo thanked Minister To Lam for the warm reception, and affirmed that she in her capacity as the South African Ambassador to Vietnam will continue to spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two countries in general, and cooperation between the relevant South African agencies and the MPS of Vietnam in particular.
