Minister To Lam requests agencies to accelerate two key projects

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Population Database Project and the Chip-based ID Card (e-ID card) Project on May 4.

The meeting discussed approaches to accelerate the input of population database into the system and connection of networks for data sharing as well as to reach the set target of issuing 50 million e-ID cards by July 2021.

Addressing the meeting, Minister To Lam affirmed that the People’s Public Security Forces are making great efforts to issue 50 million e-ID cards for people by July 1.

Regarding network connection and data sharing, the MPS is coordinating with the Vietnam Social Security, Ministry of Justice and relevant sectors to seek appropriate methods to integrate networks, according to the Minister of Public Security.

The Minister requested all members of the Steering Committee and leaders of relevant agencies under the MPS to make more efforts to correct population data.  

He also asked them to ensure technical safety and security for the official connection between the National Population Database and other database systems. At the same time, they should complete legal documents related to the two projects.
