According to report by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hung, Commander of the Regiment, in the first months of 2019, the North-western sub-region still faced ethnic and religious issues as well as free migration potentially threatening local security and order. Particularly, several elements in Muong Nhe and Nam Po Districts, Dien Bien province still had attempts to form the so-called “State of the Mong people” while the situations of criminal and drug-related crimes and traffic accidents remained complicated in the sub-region.

In this circumstance, the Regiment has actively coordinated with the local military and police units to respond to these issues. It carefully studied the situation, followed situational developments, drew up plans in response to specific scenarios, enhanced training and exercise, and seriously maintained a standby force and equipment, ready for actions on orders.
