Over the past time, the two countries have developed various bilateral and multilateral mechanisms and effectively supported each other at regional and international forums on crime prevention, especially those within the framework of ASEAN and ASEANPOL.

Regarding further cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue strengthening sharing of information of mutual concern on traditional and non-traditional security issues and crimes , especially terrorism, hi-tech crime, drug-related crime and economic crimes.

The Vietnamese Minister of Public Security suggested establishing a Vietnam-Brunei Joint Working Group on Political-Security Cooperation as well as an annual Deputy-Ministerial Meeting on Crime Prevention. The two sides should set up a hotline to promote exchange and coordination on rescue at sea as well as to promote cooperation on oil exploitation, illegal fishing prevention, immigration management, anti-terrorism, and protection of citizens of one country in the other.

Vietnam and Brunei should also support each other's initiatives on crime prevention and fight within the ASEAN framework and each other’s pursuit of wanted criminals, contributing to strengthening the connectivity between the Mekong and BIMP-EAGA sub-regions in crime prevention and criminal extradition.

On this occasion, Minister Lam invited Minister Yussof to attend AMMTC-14 and the celebration of the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces held in Vietnam in 2020.
