Minister To Lam visits Mozambique Academy of Police Sciences

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, on December 9 paid a call on the Mozambique Academy of Police Sciences (ACIPOL).

Minister To Lam is on an official visit to the Republic of Mozambique

Mr. José Mandra, Director of the ACIPOL, hosted the reception for the Vietnamese delegation. The event also saw the presence of numerous lecturers, officers, employees and students of the ACIPOL.

Speaking at the reception, Minister To Lam affirmedthat, since its establishment on June 25, 1975, the fine traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique has always been promoted.

The two sides have always maintained mutual trust, solidarity and practical cooperation in the fields of politics,diplomacy, investment, trade, telecommunications, agriculture, healthcare, expert exchange, education and training, petroleum industry and tourism. 

Minister To Lam also stated that Vietnam hopes that Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, Chairman of the Mozambique Liberation Front Party will pay an official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 45th establishment anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Minister also spoke highly of the multi-faceted cooperation in the field of police and security, between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Mozambique’s Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice. Accordingly, the two sides have closely cooperated in building a criminal justice framework, training public security officers and police officers, preventing and combating transnational crimes, human trafficking, terrorism and trafficking in wild animals. 

The two sides have signed 05 cooperation agreements while other two bilateral agreements on extradition and transfer of imprisoned persons are expected to be signed byMinister To Lam and the Mozambique Minister of Justice, Constitution and Religion during the official visit.

The two sides also continue negotiating the agreement on mutual protection of confidentiality for long-term partnership.

Minister To Lam emphasized that, in the face of complicated regional and international situations, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security attaches great importance to expanding the cooperation with the Mozambique Ministry of Interior and its affiliated agencies on the fields of security, police, immigration management, criminal justice, law enforcement and crime prevention, social order and safety maintenance, protection of legitimate rights and interests of citizens of the two countries.

In particular, the two sides hoped to further cooperate in training law enforcement officers under bilateral or tripartite cooperation mechanisms with international organizations. The Vietnamese side also hoped that the Mozambique side will agree in principle on scientific research and education cooperation between the Vietnamese People's Security Academy and the People's Police Academy and the Mozambique ACIPOL and other police training units in line with the actual needs of the two sides.

Minister To Lam highly appreciated the important role and potential of the Mozambique ACIPOL, congratulated the academy on its impressive achievements over the past time and wished that the academy,as the Mozambique's leading police scientific research and training institution,will obtain more achievements in all working aspects.

Earlier on December 8, Minister To Lam and his delegation visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique.

On the same day, Minister To Lam and his delegation visited and offered flowers at the Mozambique Hero’s Monument and Ho Chi Minh Boulevard, the symbol of the friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique. Minister To Lam and his delegation then visited and talked to leaders and staff of Movitel, a company of Viettel in Mozambique.
