Within the framework of the working trip to Hai Phong, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the the Public Security Central Party Committee and and Minister of Public Security General To Lam, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security, had a working session with the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department on the afternoon of May 9th, 2024.

Reporting to the delegation, Director of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department Major General Vu Thanh Chuong revealed that the Hai Phong’s police forces had been strictly and effectively implementing policies and directions of leaders of the Party and State, the Ministry of Public Security as well as the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal People’s Council and the Municipal People’s Committee on ensuring local security and order and building the local police force, contributing to creating a stable, safe and secure environment for socio-economic development in the city.

The Hai Phong police forces also drastically implemented social and professional preventive measures to reduce the number of social order related crimes. Notably, the rate of cleared criminal cases reached 89,5%, while all very serious cases and extremely serious cases were cleared.

The Board of Directors of the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department also closely directed police divisions and sub-depertments to ensure traffic safety and order, effectively carry our fire prevention and rescue work as well as promote a national security protection movement and build the model ward police post.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister To Lam highly appreciated and praised the Hai Phong police for their results and achievements in recent times.

Regarding key tasks in the coming time, Minister To Lam suggested that the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department continue to strictly and effectively implement policies and directions of the Party Central Committee, the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Municipal Party Committee on ensuring local security and order and building the local police forces.

Minister To Lam underlined that the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department should step up the project on enhancing the building of truly clean, a strong, regular, elite and modern police force to meet the task requirements in the new situation.

Regarding the work of building a drug-free Hai Phong city, Minister To Lam asked the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department to draft a detailed action plan with specific tasks given to relevant agencies while clearly defining the targets and time-line. Meanwhile, the local counter-narcotics force is required to effectively combat drug-related crimes, focusing on eliminating drug suppliers and eradicating drug hotbeds.
