The Minister was accompanied by Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Major General Luong Tam Quang, Head of Ministry of Public Security's Office. The event was also attended by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee.

Major General Bui Van Son, Director of Lam Dong Provincial Police and Senior Colonel Dao Ngoc Can, Chief of the Fire Police of Lam Dong, briefed Minister To Lam on the overall local situation and results of ensuring security and order, fire and explosion prevention, and rescue since the beginning of 2017.

Accordingly, in the field of political security, the Police Department of Lam Dong has actively advised the local authorities on approaches to solve complex religious and ethnic issues involving a large number of people, preventing such issues from undermining social order and safety. Particularly, the Provincial Police Department managed to have paralyzed 63 elements serving as domestic bases for 10 reactionary organizations; and successfully halted and handled over 30 illegal religious activities.

In terms of social order and safety, the police force of Lam Dong province also launched 10 intensive campaigns to suppress criminal activities following the directions of the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Lam Dong, and in accordance with the actual situation of the locality.

87.5% of the cases were investigated successfully, while 100% of the especially serious cases were resolved.

Over the past nine months, the crimes of social order, economic, environment and corruption in Lam Dong have decreased compared to the same period in 2016 but drug-related crimes have seen a rise.

Regarding fire prevention and rescue, dozens of fires have happened in the province in the first nine months of 2017, causing great economic losses. The fire prevention and fighting of Lam Dong faces numerous difficulties since it spreads in large area and has difficult mountainous terrains.

The Director of Lam Dong Provincial Police and Chief of the Provincial Fire Police also named a number of other difficulties, obstacles and limitations on human resources, facilities and specialized equipment.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam highly appreciated the efforts of Lam Dong police forces in the maintenance of security and order as well as fire prevention and fighting.

In addition, the Minister also asked all Lam Dong police forces to focus on building a clean and strong Party organization, improving the quality of cadres and soldiers to meet an increasing demand of their tasks. He also urged the provincial police forces to enhance the movement “Studying and following the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh”; care for the lives of the people and uphold the spirit "Wholeheartedly serving the people". The Minister also asked the provincial police forces to further enhance the position and capacity of the police forces in the new situation.

Earlier, on the same day, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam also attended and chaired a conference on education and training development in the Central Highlands, co-held by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Steering Committee of the Central Region-Highlands, and the National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
