Ministries of Public Security of Laos and Vietnam agree to expand cooperation

Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam paid a call on the Ministry of Public Security of Laos on the afternoon of July 18 in Vientiane.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung is a member of the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam led by Politburo member, Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Vo Van Thuong to visit and attend the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 45 years since the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Deputy Minister of Public Security of Laos Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany received the Vietnamese MPS delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the results of implementation of the 2022 cooperation plan in the first half of 2022 between the two countries' Ministry of Public Security, agreed on the direction for cooperation in the second half of 2022.

The two sides agreed to closely cooperate in all fields, regularly exchange information and share experience in ensuring national security and maintaining social order and safety in the two countries, and strengthen coordination in the fight against transnational crimes, especially drug-related crime.

*On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security's delegation paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos General Vilay Lakhamphong.

At the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung warmly congratulated General Vilay Lakhamphong on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

At the same time, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung congratulated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong on being awarded the “Ho Chi Minh” Order by the Party and State of Vietnam, a noble medal of Vietnam in recognition of his great contributions to consolidating the great friendship between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Vilay Lakhamphong highly appreciated the cooperation between the two ministries in recent years, saying that it has deepened the bilateral ties and brought practical results.

At the same time, General Vilay Lakhamphong expressed his hope that the two ministries will continue close coordination and expand cooperation in the coming time, for the common goal of ensuring security and order in the two countries, contributing to strengthening the traditional relationship, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two states and the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

*In the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung visited the representative office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Laos. The deputy minister applauded the efforts of the rep-office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Laos, saying that the officers had overcome difficulties and tried hard to fulfil all the tasks assigned by the MPS of Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the great friendship between the two countries in general, and between the Ministry of Public Security of the two countries in particular.
