Ministry of Public Security establishes its Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association Chapter

The Ministry of Public Security on June 25 held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association Chapter at the Ministry of Public Security.

On the osscasion, the first Congress of the Ministry of Public Security’s Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association chapter for the 2020-2025 term was also organized.

Senior Lieutenant General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered a speech at the event.

The ceremony saw the presence of Mr. Konstantin Vasilievich Vnukov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Major General, Professor Trinh Quoc Khanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association.

At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Duc Hieu, Permanent Secretary of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association announced Decision No. 31/QD-VNTU on establishing the  Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association Chapter at the Ministry of Public Security.

The Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association Chapter at the Ministry of Public Security is a social organization for public security officers, teachers and students who have studied and worked in the former Soviet Union and the current Russian Federation and who are interested in the Russian Federation and its culture.

The friendship organization will protect their members' legitimate rights and support people-to-people exchanges and diplomatic activities between the two countries.

At the ceremony, delegates discussed the chapter’s regulations and working plan. They also elected an Executive Committee, Inspection Committee of the chapter in the 2020 – 2025 term. Accordingly, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh is Chairman of the  Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association Chapter at the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh said that Vietnam and the Russian Federation have enjoyed a time-tested traditional friendship and good diplomatic  relations in the past 70 years.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh emphasized that in the overall relations between the two countries, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the former Soviet and current Russian law enforcement agencies has always been maintained, strengthened and developed. The highlight of this relationship is the education and training cooperation.

Thus, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh  requested the chapter’s members to heighten their sense of responsibility in all activities of the chapter and further contribute to the development of the friendship organization.

He also hoped that other State agencies, diplomatic agencies, public security units and agencies across the country will coordinate and create favorable conditions for the chapter to operate in accordance with its set principles and objectives.
