Ministry of Public Security holds workshop on personal data protection on cyberspace

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in coordination with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the United Nations to hold a workshop on sharing practices in personal data protection on cyberspace, with focus on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in Vietnam.

The event also saw the presence of representatives of agencies, organizations, and businesses in the fields of telecommunications, Internet services, and domestic and international experts.

The workshop was held in the framework of the project "EU Justice and Legal Empowerment Program in Vietnam” (EU JULE) in 2020 to strengthen the rule of law and access to justice on personal data protection for people with a focus on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

This is an important event in the context that data security and personal data protection are increasingly concerned by countries in the world. The right to protect personal data is recognized by a number of countries as privacy that should be respected and protected.

At the workshop, delegates listened to domestic experts’ presentations on the Vietnamese laws and practices in personal data protection in Vietnam. Meanwhile, international experts shared their experience in developing policies and practices in personal data protection in the world.

The outcomes of the workshop would serve as bases for the MPS and the MoJ to study, develop and complete the Decree on personal data protection and other relevant legal documents, which could shape a strong legal corridor for personal data protection in Vietnam.
